This is my page for English class. In this class we do many different types of things such as our weekly SVG (spelling, vocabulary, grammar) packet which helps us learn proper spelling, vocabulary, and grammar obviously. Other than that though, we also do fun things such as read interesting novels and short stories in our reading book. Since this class is combined with history in a double period class, a lot of what we do in English goes along with what we are learning in History, which is pretty cool.

Shatoosh Poem
![Picture](/uploads/1/3/3/6/13360547/7678935.jpg?344)
This is a picture of a poem that I wrote in my English class. This type of poem is called an Andalusian poem. This type of poem includes a ton of sensory detail, which is a type of figurative language where you describe how something feels, tastes, smells, sees, and hears, or what the object feels, tastes, etc. You also use other figurative language like simile or personification. Also in this type of poem you don't ever use a human as the main object of the poem.
From this assignment I learned how to write an Andalusian poem which was something new for me. To do this I used Google docs, which made it pretty simple. The poem was based off the book we were reading at the time called Shabanu, Daughter of the Wind, by Suzanne Fisher Staples. It also goes along with history because we were studying the Muslim Empire at that time. So this is an Andalusian poem that I wrote!
